چکیده
Non-technical summaryMany conservation initiatives call for ‘transformative change’ to counter biodiversity loss, climate change, and injustice. The term connotes fundamental, broad, durable changes human relationships with nature. However, if oversimplified or overcomplicated, not focused enough on power the political action necessary associated can perpetuate exacerbate existing crises. This article aims help practitioners deliberately catalyze steer transformation processes. Water conservation functionality of rangeland ecosystems in Taham watershed of Zanjan, Iran
Water, as the most valuable component of natural resources, is badly needed by humanbeing for various perposes. Understanding of water conservation role of different types of rangeland ecosystems, increases the accuracy of monetary value estimation and prevents underestimation its value by consumers. This study focuses on the role of vegetation to increase water storage. For that, the runoff ...
متن کاملRiparian Ecosystems: Conservation of Their Unique Characteristics1
--Riparian ecosystems have two essential characteristics: laterally flowing water that rises and falls at least once within a growing season; and a high degree of connectedness with other ecosystems. Other pulses such as fire and hurricanes may also be important in ecosystem maintenance. Changes in hydroperiod or amplitude of water level fluc~uation produce the most dramatic changes in riparian...

Millennial perspectives, like the one prompted by this Special Issue of Aquatic Conser6ation, are challenging. If we look back, we realize the degree of change in culture, technology, science and environmental quality that can occur over such time scales. Consider, for example, that by the turn of the last millennium, our global population was somewhere between 200 and 500 million (Ehrlich et a...

1. The spatial distribution of the most important subtidal habitats (coral reefs, coral carpets, seagrass meadows, sand with corals, macroids, mud, hardgrounds) and mangroves was mapped in northern Safaga Bay, Red Sea, Egypt. Coral communities were analysed separately for their ecological and spatial patterns. This, coupled with information about major current patterns in the bay, provides a fr...
